Aldi Birkenhead - Laird Street

The Birkenhead store was our first pre-finished, pre-insulated, pre-cast concrete panel system, constructed in a modular format.

Following demolition of the existing building and reduced level dig, the foundations were poured along with part of the slab.  The remainder of the slab was subsequently poured in a sequential pour, following on from panel installation, in order to provide structural integrity to the vertical panels. 

On this style of store, nail roof trusses were used with a single span in excess of 30 metres, all imported from Germany, along with the concrete panels. 

In addition to a full build programme, we also managed the complete fit-out of the store, handing over a completed store in its entirety to Store Operations for merchandising. 

Phase 2 commenced some months after completion of the store whereby we partly demolished the existing adjacent Aldi store and provided various enabling works and additional car parking.
